David Davis BSc DC

David, a local Bournemouth man, has a background as a residential care and nursing home proprietor since 1984. He decided to train as a Chiropractor initially to help residents with mobility problems, particularly after replacement surgery. He graduated in 1994 from the Anglo- European College of Chiropractic (AECC) and now owns the Ferndown Chiropractic and Sports Injury Clinic with his wife Sheena. David works mainly in private practice but is also heavily involved at the AECC as a  lecturer and clinic tutor. This gives him access to the latest research and evidence based treatment protocols and modern diagnostic investigation procedures. These are invaluable tools to help David provide the best possible care for his patients.

David has particular interests in sailing, running, cycling and keeping fit. He has sailed across the Atlantic in his Moody 39 and plans a trip to Scandinavia before he is too old. He has cycled Lands End to John O'Groats twice unassisted and recently completed a 200 mile one day endurance event in California. He still enjoys giving his two adult sons a run for their money on long Dorset cycle rides. In 2014 he completed the Bournemouth Marathon and has no wish to do it again.

Susy Davies

Susy primarily trained in sports massage therapy and uses these deep tissue massage and trigger point techniques to reduce pain and tension for her clients whether they are keen athletes, have postural imbalances or perhaps spend a lot of time sitting at a desk.  Part of Susy's training has focused on myofascial release whereby a slower, firm pressure is sustained on an area to release the more superficial layers of muscle and fascia which give way and allow the deeper muscles to be stimulated and become more pliable.

Susy is a keen runner and understands how important keeping fit and healthy is, and how frustrating it is when pain stops you from doing what you love.  It was from dealing with her own running injuries that she was introduced to the world of massage therapy and the amazing effect it can have on your wellbeing.  Understanding that everything in our bodies is connected and that tissue dysfunction has a knock-on effect to other areas of the body is key in putting together a plan for treatment. Massage is a very personal experience and Susy ensures she works with her clients to identify which areas need attention and how the issues will be addressed.  Throughout her treatments she checks that what she is doing is comfortable and appropriate, continuously adjusting pressure and techniques, to provide the best outcome for her clients.
